Tomorrow, tomorrow

I head to NYC tomorrow for a finalist interview for the Swedish reality TV show.  This all seems a bit unreal but it really is real for reals.  My dear friend Faith offered to go with me -- it will be so great to have someone be a witness to my day and a support through it all as well.  I haven't thought too much about the interview because I've been with family for the past five days -- but alas tomorrow at this time I'll be back home and it will all be over.

My mom brought a notebook full of information about my great-grandparents who came to the USA in 1903.  It holds stories of their journey from Sweden, letters to and from family at home, photos of my great-grandparents and their childen and children's children and such.  It's amazing to think how their decisions to leave family and travel so far from home have affected so many generations.  My great grandpa's journal of their journey from Sweden is so inspiring -- such an adventure for such a young man and his girlfriend (my great grandma!).  At one point during the journey he writes:
"We have had to ride at anchor for awhile, but we are now in motion again.  It is 9 am.  We see land and we are happy.  At home in Sweden it is 3 pm and we wonder about the meeting at Backa.  Here it is rainign very much and we wonder what the weather is like in Sweden.  We see farms, woods and meadows nearby and I feel almost as I wanted to weep seeing land so near after having only seen sky and water for ten days.  After having seen all these beautiful sceneries I begin to think a little of myself and I get strange feelings.  We see all these beautiful things but we are like birds without nests in a foreign country.  But the Lord will help us."  Such courage.  Such faith.  Such adventure.

If my great-grandparents can do this -- what do I have in me?

Well, I'll start by going to boarding an amtrak train tomorrow morning headed to NYC... and interview in the afternoon... and wait and see what adventures may come.
