Thanksgiving 2007

Back in 1998 I took a trip to La Roca in Tijuana, Mexico and it was there that I saw the discipline of "thanksgiving" practiced everyday as the children and workers who lived at La Roca would meet each day at 6 a.m. to give thanks to God before they began their day. I have many, many fond memories of my times there but some of the most impactful times there were centered around this consistent practice of giving thanks.

So, tonight as I go to sleep with a full belly and full mind, I want to give thanks on this thanksgiving day for the many, many blessings in my life. Here are some of them... tonight I am thankful for my family; for the wonderful godly heritage in my life. I am thankful for the time to be home and for the many many meals I've eaten and nights I've slept in the beautiful Thayer home. Thankful for time with Jackie at Aveda yesterday. I'm thankful for sweet potatoes and my computer that I can use to blog while in bed. I'm thankful for friends who keep in touch and friends with whom I can share a laugh even though we only see each other twice a year. Thankful for work I love; and co-workers who bear with me and make me a better person. I'm thankful for kids in my life. I'm thankful for my walking buddy, Inger. Thankful for time and ability to walk. Thanksful my foot feels a bit better and thankful in advance for the day it will be healed. I'm thankful for the church in the Harrisburg area I'll one day call home. I'm thankful for the way the Lord brings new friends into our lives. I'm thankful for scarfs and neato burrito. I'm thankful for hope. I'm thankful for Rhonda, Abigail and Cindy and the times we pray together. I'm thankful for friends who pray with me on the phone. Thankful for my cell phone and at home internet. I'm so thankful for the many places I've been able to travel. For bringing the perfect men into Annette, Becky E., Janelle, Carmen and Tracy's lives in 2007. I'm thankful for my many friends who are pregnant! I'm thankful for the struggles I've had and how they help me be more empathetic. I'm thankful for God's saving grace, for good acoustic guitar performances, for my camera and flickr and for sunshine. I'm truly blessed.
